從禁食到福音 From Fasting to Gospel

基督徒最顯著的特徵是活出恩典的生命,在真理中得自由。本周,張國強牧師鼓勵我们放下律法主義的思維,將彼此視為在基督所賜的真正自由中與基督同作後嗣。

The defining characteristic of being a Christian is living a life of grace and finding freedom in truth. This week, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung encourages us to let go of legalistic thinking and see one another as co-heirs with Christ in the authentic freedom that He provides.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share something you used to think was necessary for being a “good Christian” but later understood differently as you grew in your faith.

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. What were the Pharisees’ views on fasting, and how did Jesus challenge their perspective?
• What do the two parables (the bridegroom and the old/new cloth and wineskins) teach about Jesus’ role and the difference between legalism and grace?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• How does understanding Jesus as the Bridegroom affect the way you see your relationship with Him?
• In what ways have you, like the Pharisees, relied on religious acts (e.g., ministry) or practices to feel more righteous or “good enough” before God?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• What is one way you can remind yourself or others this week that faith in Jesus is about grace, not legalism?
• How can you practice fasting or other spiritual disciplines in a way that deepens your relationship with Jesus rather than as a means to earn His love?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise God for the gift of His grace that sets us free from legalism. Thank Him for sending Jesus, our Bridegroom, who has brought us into a joyful relationship with Him. Rejoice in the truth that our righteousness comes through faith, not through our efforts, and that in Christ, we are made new.
• Repent for the times you have approached God with a mindset of earning His love through religious acts rather than receiving His grace. Ask for forgiveness for any self-righteousness or legalism in your heart that has kept you from fully embracing the freedom of the Gospel. Pray for the humility to let go of traditions or mindsets that do not align with the truth of Christ.
