Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share your understanding of what the gospel is. With this understanding, what are its implications for your life?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Skim through the entire book of Mark. Why does it start with this prophecy from Isaiah?
– Why is the gospel centered on Jesus as both Christ and the Son of God?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– Do you trust Jesus more than you fear losing control over your life? What encourages and hinders you from doing so?
– In what areas of your life do you resist total submission to Jesus as your King? What are the root causes and roadblocks to fully submitting to Him in all aspects of your life?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– What specific actions can you take to deepen your trust and submission to Jesus as the Christ and Son of God?
– Who can you share the message of the gospel with this year, emphasizing what Jesus has done for them?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise our Heavenly Father for the Good News, for sending Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to accomplish what the law and miracles could not. Thank Him for His perfect love and the servant King who bore the cross for us, bringing new life through His sacrifice. Rejoice in His faithfulness and mercy that transforms our hearts and lives.
– Repent for the times you have resisted His authority and chosen to follow your own way. Ask for forgiveness for trying to create and control a version of Jesus that fits your desires, rather than submitting fully to the real Jesus as the Christ and Son of God. Pray that you may trust Him completely and surrender your heart and life to Him.
