雅博渡口的困境 A Difficult Situation at Jabbok Ford

當雅各遵照上帝的指示返回家鄉時,他遇到了以掃派來的400名士兵攔截並可能傷害他。本週,張國強牧師反思如何透過神的力量將生活中的困境變成積極的轉折點。

When Jacob obeyed God’s instructions to return to his homeland, he encountered 400 men sent by Esau to intercept and possibly harm him. This week, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung reflects on how God’s power can turn life’s dilemmas into positive turning points.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share a time when you felt like you were wrestling with a difficult decision or situation. How did it shape you?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the chapter. What was the significance of Jabbok Ford in Jacob’s life, and how did it mark a turning point for him?
• How does Jacob’s encounter with Esau and Pharaoh demonstrate the change in his identity and priorities after meeting God at Jabbok Ford?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• In what areas of your life do you struggle to trust God’s promises or feel insecure about His provision? Where do you think this is coming from?
• Evaluate yourself: Is your identity rooted in being a child of God, or are you still striving to find your worth through worldly achievements or approval? What do you think are the root causes and roadblocks to achieving this?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• What steps can you take to let go of striving for blessings and instead cling to God Himself in your daily life?
• How can you practice surrendering your insecurities or unmet desires to God this week?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise the Lord for being the God who blesses us abundantly and lovingly wrestles with us to transform our hearts. Thank Him for His patience and faithfulness in leading us from a place of striving for worldly gains to resting in His presence. Rejoice in His grace that allows difficult situations in our lives to become turning points for His glory.
• Repent for the times you have replaced God with the blessings He has given you, valuing His gifts more than His presence. Ask for forgiveness for your lack of trust in His promises, your insecurities, and your striving for control. Pray that you may surrender your grasping heart to Him and seek to reflect His love by becoming a blessing to others.
