The Gospel for Sinners
Jesus came to call sinners to repentance, offering God’s grace to those who acknowledge their need for salvation. This week, Pastor Joseph Ouano reminds us that salvation comes only through Christ and not by our efforts. We all need God’s mercy and grace.

Life Group Discussion Guide
1. Start with a prayer
2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
– Share a time you were invited to something you didn’t expect to be included in. How did you feel?
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
– Read the passage. What does Jesus’ willingness to eat with tax collectors and sinners tell us about His mission and character?
– How did the Pharisees define righteousness, and how was Jesus’ view different?
4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
– Do you see yourself more like Levi, someone aware of your sin and need for Jesus? Or do you relate more to the Pharisees, believing you are already “”good enough”” on your own?
– Is there anyone in your life whom you have labeled as “”too sinful”” or “”too far”” from God? How does Jesus’ example challenge your attitude?
5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
– What steps can you take to rely on God’s grace instead of trying to earn righteousness through your own efforts?
– How can you reflect Jesus’ heart to welcome sinners this week by reaching out to an outcast or someone who feels unworthy?
6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
– Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace that calls sinners to Himself. Thank Him for seeing beyond our brokenness and inviting us into a relationship with Him. Rejoice that Jesus does not reject the outcasts but welcomes all who recognize their need for Him. Celebrate the character of the King, who does not demand righteousness through human effort but offers it freely through His grace.
– Repent for the times you have relied on your own goodness rather than humbly recognizing your need for Jesus. Ask for forgiveness for looking down on others while failing to see your own sin. Pray for a heart that responds to Jesus’ call with repentance and trust, following Him fully rather than holding onto self-righteousness or fear.
