Far too often, we measure greatness by human ability and feel disappointed by each other’s shortcomings. This Sunday, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung challenges us to shift our focus from people to God, and declaring His majesty as we experience His power and His faithfulness.

Read Today’s Scripture Passage

Psalm 8

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

If you had to describe one aspect of God’s character through one of His names (Provider, Shepherd, Peace, Healer, etc.), which would you choose based on this season of life and why?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm. Why is it significant that David used both Jehovah and Lord (Adonai)? What do these names reveal about God’s relationship with people?

How does this psalm connect God’s original commission to humanity with Jesus’ mission and the church’s calling today?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

When you consider the greatness of God shown in creation and His care for humanity, what does that reveal about how you currently view yourself and your worth?

In what areas of your life do you acknowledge God as Jehovah (a relational God) but struggle to submit to Him as Lord and Master?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

This week, what is one intentional way you can pause and recognize God’s majesty in creation and turn that into worship?

What is one practical way you can live as God’s representative in your family, workplace, school, or ministry this week? Who is one person God may be calling you to intentionally disciple, encourage spiritually, or pray for as part of participating in His mission?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because His name is majestic in all the earth and His glory is revealed in creation, in His victories, in His faithful care, and in His redemptive work through Christ. Thank Him that though humanity is small and undeserving, He chose to create us in His image, crown us with dignity, and invite us into relationship with Him. Rejoice that through Christ, what was broken by sin is being restored, and that He allows us to participate in His glorious mission of making disciples among all nations.

Repent for the times you have lived as though your identity, value, and purpose depend on your own strength, accomplishments, or failures instead of what God has declared over you. Ask for forgiveness for recognizing God as Savior while resisting Him as Lord and Master over every area of your life. Pray that your heart would submit more fully to Christ, trust His restoring work, and faithfully carry out the commission He has entrusted to His people for His glory.

Read Today’s Scripture Passage

Psalm 8

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a time you were in nature (looking at the stars, mountains, ocean, etc.) and you felt both amazed and small? What thoughts or emotions did that bring out in you?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm. Why is Psalm 8 especially significant in its placement among the surrounding lament psalms? What does this teach us about worship and suffering?

What does it mean that humanity is made in the image of God and entrusted with stewardship? How does this look today?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what aspects of your life do you usually view yourself as weak? Do you tend to view this weakness as something to hide, overcome quickly, or avoid? How does God’s attention toward the weak and insignificant reshape your understanding of strength?

How often do worship and praise become your anchors during seasons of lament, rather than something you only practice when life is going well?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What is one practical way you can create space this week to slow down, notice God’s glory in creation, and respond in worship?

When feelings of insignificance, anxiety, or discouragement arise, how can you intentionally choose to view yourself through God’s eyes rather than your own? What is one habit or rhythm you can begin that reminds you daily that your place and identity are found in God and not in your circumstances?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because His name is majestic in all the earth and His glory fills creation. Thank Him that although you are finite, small, and limited, He sees you, remembers you, and gives you dignity because you are made in His image. Rejoice that the God who created galaxies is also the God who draws near, gives meaning to your life, and invites you into His infinite love through Christ. Thank Him that worship and praise reorient your heart and remind you of your true place—not in fear or insignificance, but in Him.

Repent for the times you have looked at life through your own eyes and concluded that your value depends on your accomplishments, control, strength, or importance. Ask for forgiveness for the seasons when lament turned into hopelessness, or when you stopped lifting your eyes to worship and trust God’s character. Pray that God would teach you to see yourself through His eyes, to embrace your identity as one made in His image, and to respond to both sorrow and wonder with deeper worship and confidence in His unchanging love.

All of creation declares the greatness of our God and His profound care for us. This Sunday, Pastor Joseph Ouano reminds us that when we seek God’s majesty in creation, we gain a clearer understanding of our frailty, our dignity as His image-bearers, and our purpose to glorify Him.

1. Magdasal bilang panimula.

2. Engage with one another (15-30 mins)

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

Bakit?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. Why is it important to continue seeking God even when you do not feel His presence?

What does it mean to “talk to yourself about your hopes,” and what makes it necessary during spiritual drought?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

What things in your environment, routines, physical condition, or relationships may be contributing to spiritual dryness?

Where have you placed your hope in lately? How has that shaped your emotions and responses?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What is one practical way you can continue panting after God this week, even if your feelings do not immediately change? What rhythms (rest, prayer, Scripture, worship, reflection, healthy routines) do you need to strengthen to better pursue God spiritually?

Who can walk with you and encourage you if you are experiencing a long season of spiritual thirst? Who is God calling you to walk with in this capacity as well?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because He welcomes us even in seasons of dryness and does not reject us when our faith feels weak. Thank Him that your spiritual thirst is evidence that He continues drawing your heart toward Himself. Rejoice that through Christ, your hope does not depend on changing emotions but on His unchanging presence and steadfast love. Thank Him that He remains faithful and satisfies those who continue to hunger and thirst for Him.

Repent for the times you have tried to satisfy your spiritual thirst with comfort, distractions, achievements, relationships, or worldly things instead of seeking God Himself. Ask for forgiveness for withdrawing from Him, isolating yourself, or allowing discouragement to weaken your pursuit of His presence. Pray that God would renew your desire for Him, teach you to bring your honest hurts before Him, and help you continually place your hope in Christ until your soul finds satisfaction in Him.

Psalms 42 and 43 express the raw longings of a discouraged soul who is desperately thirsting for God’s presence amid turmoil. This Sunday, Rev. Michael Cariño reminds us that hope grows when we thirst for God, surrendering our turmoil to Him, and trusting in His deliverance.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share about a season in your life that felt like a “wilderness” (dry, difficult, uncertain, lonely, or stretching). What did that season reveal about your relationship with God?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What does David’s longing for God reveal about the difference between seeking God Himself and seeking only His blessings? How do we see this difference today?

How does Psalm 63 point us toward Jesus and the invitation to find ultimate satisfaction in Him?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

Where has comfort or routine quietly weakened your dependence on God?

What thoughts usually dominate your quiet moments? How are those thoughts shaping your mind, heart, and trust in God? Is there any fear, bitterness, anxiety, disappointment, or desire for control that God may be inviting you to surrender to Him?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What is one intentional practice you can begin this week to cultivate a deeper longing for God (e.g., prayer, Scripture meditation, worship, solitude, journaling)? What would it look like for you to pursue satisfaction in God instead of temporary comfort or worldly substitutes this week?

When fear or anxious thoughts arise this week, what practical way can you redirect your attention toward worship and trust?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because He alone satisfies the deepest thirst of the human soul. Thank Him that His steadfast love is better than life and remains faithful through every season—whether in abundance or in the wilderness. Rejoice that He does not abandon His people in difficult places but uses those seasons to draw us nearer, deepen our trust, and reveal His presence more fully. Thank Jesus that He entered suffering and experienced ultimate thirst so that we may receive eternal satisfaction and life in Him.

Repent for the times you have pursued comfort, control, achievement, relationships, or temporary satisfaction more than seeking God Himself. Ask for forgiveness for becoming spiritually passive, relying on blessings while neglecting the Blesser, and turning toward worry, fear, bitterness, or self-dependence during wilderness seasons. Pray that God would restore in you a desperate hunger for His presence, teach you to worship even in dry seasons, and form in you a heart that continually longs for Him, delights in Him, and leans on Him completely.

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

Psalm 1 tells us that there are two paths in life: the way of the wicked or the path of righteousness. This Sunday, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung uses this Psalm to remind us that we alone make the choice on which path to take. Let us choose wisely and walk faithfully all the way to the end.

Read Today’s Scripture Passage

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a habit or routine that has helped you stay spiritually grounded during difficult seasons. How did you develop it?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. How is the righteous person compared to a tree? What makes his life abundant and fruitful?

What does the chaff teach about the life of the wicked? How do we see chaff-like living today?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

How healthy is the unseen part of your spiritual life (your personal relationship with God when no one else sees)? Which aspects are flourishing, and which ones withering?

What areas in your life are you choosing your own path instead of surrendering to God’s direction? Where is this coming from?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

Do you delight in God’s Word, or do you often treat it as a responsibility or routine? Why do you think that is? What practical habit can you start this week to meditate on God’s Word more intentionally day and night?

In what ways are you tempted to walk, stand, and sit with ungodly influences instead of following God’s ways? What unhealthy influence, environment, or relationship do you need to say “no” to so you can walk more faithfully with God?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for leading us into the path of true blessing and life through His Word. Thank Him because He does not leave us lost or directionless, but lovingly watches over the way of the righteous. Rejoice that through His Word, He nourishes our souls like a tree planted by streams of water, giving us strength, stability, and fruitfulness in every season of life. Thank Him for His faithfulness in sustaining us even through trials and challenges, and for allowing us to know Him personally and walk closely with Him.

Repent for the times you have followed worldly influences, chosen your own path, or allowed sinful attitudes and habits to shape your life. Ask forgiveness for neglecting God’s Word or treating it only as knowledge instead of delighting in it and obeying it wholeheartedly. Confess the ways your roots have become shallow and your heart distracted from intimacy with God. Pray that the Lord would help you reject the path that leads to destruction and continually plant your life deeply in Him, so that you may bear lasting fruit for His glory.
