The Book of Mark concludes with a seemingly open-ended finale, leaving Mary Magdalene and the other women confused about how to make sense of Jesus’ resurrection. This Sunday, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung brings the series on Mark to a close in similar fashion, posing the question: “How will you write the ending of your own life story?”

Read Today’s Scripture Passage

Mark 16:1-8

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a time you struggled to believe or trust God in a difficult situation, even though you already knew His promises. What made it hard for you?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. Why is Galilee important in the disciples’ story? What does Jesus’ instruction to return there symbolize?

How does the open ending of the Book of Mark challenge believers today?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what areas of your life do you tend to respond with fear or anxiety instead of trusting that God is already at work? Where is this rooted?

Do you see yourself more as a fearful follower or a bold witness of Jesus today? Why? What usually keeps you from sharing about Jesus openly with others?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What is one practical way you can grow in trusting God instead of being controlled by fear or anxiety this week?

How can you actively serve Jesus as His faithful servant in your home, workplace, school, circles, or ministry this week?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because Jesus Christ has truly risen from the dead and defeated sin and death once and for all. Thank Him that even when we are filled with fear, anxiety, and doubt, He remains faithful and continues to pursue us with grace. Thank Him that, like Peter and the disciples, He does not forsake us in our failures but lovingly calls us back to Himself for a fresh start. Rejoice that the risen Christ is alive, present, and actively working in our lives even before we see the solution to our problems.

Repent for the times you have responded with fear, silence, or unbelief instead of trusting and obeying the risen Lord. Ask for forgiveness for the moments you have kept the gospel to yourself, hesitated to speak about Jesus, or allowed anxiety and shame to stop you from following Him boldly. Pray that the Lord would transform your fearful heart into a courageous and faithful witness who joyfully proclaims that Jesus is alive and worthy to be followed.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a time you felt nervous or hesitant to talk about Jesus to someone else. What made it difficult?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What does the resurrection of Jesus prove about the work He came to accomplish?

Why is it significant that women became the first eyewitnesses of the risen Christ? What mission were they immediately called to after hearing the good news?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

What fears or insecurities usually stop you from sharing the gospel with others?

How does Jesus’ forgiveness of Peter encourage you personally in moments of failure or shame?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

Have you become too familiar or comfortable with the gospel to the point that you no longer stand in awe of Jesus and His resurrection? What is one way you can intentionally reflect on and rediscover the wonder of the gospel this week?

How might God be inviting you to actively be missional in your home, workplace, school, circles, or ministry this week? Is there a person God may be calling you to share the good news of Jesus with?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because the resurrection of Jesus Christ proves that His work of salvation is fully finished and complete. Thank Him that the gospel is not about earning His love through our own efforts, but about receiving the grace and blessing that Jesus has already secured for us through His death and resurrection. Rejoice that even in our weakness, failures, and fears, the Lord still calls us by grace and invites us to be part of His mission. Thank Him for the privilege of knowing the risen Savior and being entrusted with the good news that changes lives.

Repent for the times you have doubted the truth and power of the gospel or treated it casually without wonder and gratitude. Ask for forgiveness for allowing fear, insecurity, comfort, or shame to keep you silent about Jesus. Repent for the moments you have focused more on your own limitations than on the power of the risen Christ who calls and equips you. Pray that the Lord would give you an open heart to believe His truth deeply and a courageous spirit to joyfully share the good news with others.

Jesus’ disciples lost hope when He died, but their outlook changed when they discovered the empty tomb on the morning of Resurrection Day. This Sunday, Rev. Mike Cariño shares the transformative power of Jesus’ Resurrection and the hope that lies beyond the grave.

1. Magdasal bilang panimula.

2. Engage with one another (15-30 mins)

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a recent time you experienced humiliation, rejection, or misunderstanding. How did you respond?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What were the five significant events that happened during Jesus’ death? What does each reveal about His identity and mission?

What do Joseph of Arimathea’s actions teach you about courage and discipleship?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what ways do you sometimes act like the crowd, the soldiers, or the disciples—rejecting, avoiding, or staying silent about Jesus?

How do you respond when following Jesus becomes uncomfortable, costly, or embarrassing? What fears or guilt might be causing you to distance yourself from Jesus, like Peter and the other disciples did?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What is one specific way you can courageously identify yourself as a follower of Jesus this week, just like Joseph did?

What is one step you can take to leave behind your old life patterns and walk in the new life Christ has given you?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for sending His Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly endured humiliation, suffering, and death on the cross for us. Thank Him that even in the midst of man’s wickedness, His goodness and perfect plan prevailed. Rejoice that through Jesus’ broken body and sacrifice, the curtain was torn and we now have direct access to His presence. Give thanks that Christ remained faithful to accomplish our salvation and offer us new life.

Repent for the times you have denied, avoided, or stayed silent about Jesus out of fear, shame, or comfort. Ask for forgiveness for taking lightly the suffering and separation Christ endured because of your sin. Confess the ways you have clung to your old life instead of fully embracing the new life He offers. Pray for the courage to stand for Christ, to follow Him wholeheartedly, and to live boldly as His disciple.

What areas in your life are you still relying more on your own effort, goodness, knowledge, or spirituality rather than fully trusting Christ’s finished work?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

In what ways have you become too familiar with the story of the Cross without allowing it to deeply transform your life? What practical step can you take to remember, reflect, and embrace Christ’s finished work?

How can you intentionally grow in faith and dependence on Jesus instead of merely consuming more Christian content or information?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for opening our eyes through faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the Cross. Thank Him that salvation is not based on our own effort, goodness, or religious performance, but entirely on Christ’s sacrifice and grace. Rejoice that through Jesus, we are made right with God and invited to truly see and know Him. Give thanks that eternal life begins through believing in Christ, who lovingly endured the Cross so that we may have hope, forgiveness, and access to God.

Repent for the times you have treated the message of the Cross as something familiar without allowing it to transform your heart and life. Ask for forgiveness for relying on your own strength, knowledge, righteousness, or religious efforts instead of fully trusting in Christ’s finished work. Confess the areas of unbelief, pride, and self-reliance that keep you from surrendering completely to Jesus. Pray that the Lord would soften your heart, deepen your faith, and help you live daily in humble dependence on Him.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a time you went along with a group’s decision even if you knew it wasn’t right. What influenced your choice?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What role did the religious leaders and the crowd play in choosing Barabbas over Jesus? What does this reveal about human nature?

What forms of suffering did Jesus endure from the soldiers? What do these reveal about the weight of sin?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what situations are you tempted to prioritize pleasing people over standing for what is right and true? Where is this rooted?

How do you respond when you realize that your actions, words, or decisions may have been unjust or hurtful to others?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What areas of your life still reflect your old self instead of the new life you have in Christ? What is one practical step you can take to put to death your old self and live out your new identity in Christ?

Who is someone you can extend grace or forgiveness to, even if they don’t deserve it? How will you show that this week?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for accomplishing the greatest salvation through what seemed like the most unjust trial. Thank Him that even though we were like Barabbas—guilty and deserving of judgment—Jesus took our place and bore our punishment on the cross. Rejoice that through Christ, our sins are forgiven, our old self is crucified, and we are given new life. Thank Him for His grace that continues to pursue us and for His constant intercession on our behalf.

Repent for the times you have chosen to please people instead of standing firm in truth, and for the moments you have acted unjustly in your thoughts, words, or actions. Ask for forgiveness for taking the sacrifice of Jesus lightly and for living as if your old self still has control. Pray that you would truly die to sin and live in the new life Christ has given you, with a heart that is quick to repent, willing to obey, and committed to walk in truth and righteousness.

Read Today’s Scripture Passage

Mark 14:66-72

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a time you felt pressured to hide, downplay, or compromise your faith. How did that experience impact your faith moving forward?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What were the stages of Peter’s denial?

After Peter denied Jesus, what caused him to realize what he had done, and how did he respond?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what ways do you tend to be overconfident in your spiritual life, just like Peter?

When you fail or sin, do you turn to Jesus or hide in shame? Where is this response rooted?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What practical steps can you take to guard yourself against spiritual pride and overconfidence?

Who can you encourage or strengthen using your own experiences of failure and God’s grace?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Lord for His deep understanding of your weaknesses and His unfailing grace, even when we fail. Thank Him that He does not reject us in our moments of denial or weakness, but instead looks at us with mercy and love. Rejoice that His forgiveness restores us and that He can use even our failures to strengthen others and bring glory to His name.

Repent for the times you have been prideful, thinking you’re spiritually strong on your own, and for the moments you have denied or compromised your faith out of fear or pressure. Ask for forgiveness for relying on your own strength instead of depending on God. Pray that your heart would be transformed—softened to recognize your weakness, quick to turn back to Jesus, and willing to fully trust in His grace.
