Read Today’s Scripture Passage

Mark 14:66-72

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a time you felt pressured to hide, downplay, or compromise your faith. How did that experience impact your faith moving forward?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What were the stages of Peter’s denial?

After Peter denied Jesus, what caused him to realize what he had done, and how did he respond?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what ways do you tend to be overconfident in your spiritual life, just like Peter?

When you fail or sin, do you turn to Jesus or hide in shame? Where is this response rooted?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What practical steps can you take to guard yourself against spiritual pride and overconfidence?

Who can you encourage or strengthen using your own experiences of failure and God’s grace?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Lord for His deep understanding of your weaknesses and His unfailing grace, even when we fail. Thank Him that He does not reject us in our moments of denial or weakness, but instead looks at us with mercy and love. Rejoice that His forgiveness restores us and that He can use even our failures to strengthen others and bring glory to His name.

Repent for the times you have been prideful, thinking you’re spiritually strong on your own, and for the moments you have denied or compromised your faith out of fear or pressure. Ask for forgiveness for relying on your own strength instead of depending on God. Pray that your heart would be transformed—softened to recognize your weakness, quick to turn back to Jesus, and willing to fully trust in His grace.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

When life gets stressful or overwhelming, what do you tend to run toward for comfort or safety?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. How did Peter’s denials progress from the first to the third? What pattern do you observe?

What was the significance of the rooster crowing and Jesus looking at Peter?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what areas of your life are you close/have proximity to Jesus, but not actually present with Him? Where is this rooted?

What small compromises have you been justifying that might be leading you further away from God?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What specific step can you take this week to move from being distant from Jesus to truly abiding in Him?

What is one small compromise you need to stop today before it grows into something bigger? How can you respond differently the next time you feel pressure to compromise your faith?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the God of all grace who faithfully pursues us even in our weakest and most compromising moments. Thank Him that our failures are not the end of our story, and that He lovingly uses even pressure to form our character and draw us closer to Him. Rejoice that His gaze is full of mercy, not condemnation, and that He restores, strengthens, and establishes us by His grace.

Repent for the times you have followed Jesus at a distance, choosing comfort, safety, and compromise over true faithfulness. Ask for forgiveness for the small decisions that have slowly pulled your heart away from abiding in Him. Pray that you would no longer rely on outward appearances or performance, but instead cultivate a genuine, abiding relationship with Christ—one that remains steadfast even under pressure.

Peter must have felt like a complete failure after he denied Christ, for his stubbornness and overconfidence led to his downfall. This Sunday, Pastor Allan Rillera reminds us that God’s love is unrelenting. Let us not allow our fears or failures to keep us from returning to Christ.

1. Magdasal bilang panimula.

2. Engage with one another (15-30 mins)

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What are the three types of disciples mentioned during Jesus’ arrest, and how did each respond to the situation? How do we see these types of disciples today?

How did Jesus respond to false accusations and suffering during His trial?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

Which type of disciple do you tend to relate to most (betraying, fleshly, or fearful/scattered), especially under pressure? Why?

How does fear or pressure cause you to “distance” yourself from Jesus? Where do you see this happening in specific areas of your life?

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a time you struggled between wanting justice and showing mercy. What made it difficult? What helped you make the decision?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. How did different people (Judas, Peter, and the other disciples) fail Jesus during His arrest? How do we see these types of response in the church today?

How does Jesus reveal both His authority as Judge and His willingness to suffer as Savior?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what ways do you see yourself in the failures of Judas, Peter, or the other disciples?

Is it easier for you to lean toward justice (accountability) or mercy (grace)? How does this message challenge that tendency?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

How do you usually respond when you see injustice in the world or experience it personally? Identify one practical way you can stand against injustice while still showing Christ-like grace.

How can you reflect both grace and truth in your conversations and relationships this week?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Lord Jesus as the righteous Judge who rules with perfect justice and holiness. Thank Him for willingly stepping into our place, bearing our judgment, and enduring injustice so that we could receive salvation. Rejoice that He is both powerful and compassionate—able to make all things right and yet deeply understanding of our struggles. Give thanks that in Him, we receive both grace and truth, mercy and justice.

Repent for the times you have failed to acknowledge your own sinfulness and have tried to stand on your own before God. Ask for forgiveness for leaning too much toward either harsh judgment or passive tolerance instead of reflecting both God’s justice and grace. Confess moments when you have failed Jesus through fear, compromise, or self-reliance.
3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read Today’s Scripture Passage

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

When you’re under pressure or stress, what is your usual response? Do you tend to face it, avoid it, or distract yourself? Share a recent experience.

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What is the key difference between Jesus’ response to the situation and the disciples’ response?

What does Jesus pray for regarding the cup? How does He ultimately submit to the Father’s will?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

When you face pressure or difficulty, do you tend to rely on God in prayer or on your own strength? Why?

How do you usually respond when God’s will does not align with your desires? What areas in your life are you are resisting God’s will because it is difficult or uncomfortable?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

How can you intentionally “stay awake” spiritually and not fall into complacency like the disciples? Is there a specific step can you take this week to grow in your prayer life, especially during times of pressure?

What is one area of your life where you need to actively surrender your will to God this week? What will that look like in action?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for the perfect example of obedience shown through Christ Jesus, who chose to follow His will even in the face of deep agony and suffering. Thank Him for His victory in prayer that led to our salvation, and for showing that true strength is found in surrendering to God’s will. Rejoice that because of Jesus’ faithfulness, we now have access to God and the grace to walk in obedience.

Repent for the times you have relied on your own strength instead of seeking God in prayer, especially in moments of pressure and difficulty. Ask for forgiveness for the ways you have resisted God’s will or chosen comfort and ease over obedience. Pray that you may learn to surrender your desires fully to God, to remain spiritually alert, and to trust Him even when the path is hard.

Share a time when you really wanted something to change but it didn’t. How did you respond?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. Why does Jesus petition the Father even though He is committed to submitting to God’s plan?

How did the disciples respond to Jesus’ warning about the coming “hour”? What does this reveal about their hearts?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

How do you usually respond when God’s will involves discomfort, delay, or suffering? Where do you think this is rooted?

What situation in your life right now are you are struggling to trust God’s will? What makes it hard to surrender?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

How can you intentionally grow in a prayer life that is both honest (bringing your desires to God) and surrendered (trusting His will)?

Do you tend to rely more on self-confidence (like the disciples) or surrender (like Jesus)? What areas of your life reveal this? What practical step can you take this week to move away from self-reliance and toward dependence on God?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for being a loving and powerful God who invites us to come near with honesty and boldness. Thank Him for the example of Christ, who shows us that we can bring our deepest fears and desires before God while still trusting in His perfect will. Rejoice that through Jesus, we are welcomed into a relationship where we can both petition and submit, knowing that God’s plans are always good and purposeful.

Repent for the times you have relied on your own strength, pretended to be strong, or resisted bringing your true struggles before God. Ask for forgiveness for moments when you have demanded your own way or struggled to trust God’s will, especially when it involved difficulty or suffering. A vibrant church evolves by embracing the dreams inspired by the Holy Spirit and making a meaningful impact on this lost world. To mark our church's 39th anniversary and Resurrection Sunday, Reverend Jeremiah Cheung draws on Psalm 126 and encourages us to keep being God's Dreamers.

A church is not meant to be a rigid institution that stays unchanged over time. A vibrant church evolves by embracing the dreams inspired by the Holy Spirit and making a meaningful impact on this lost world. To mark our church’s 39th anniversary and Resurrection Sunday, Reverend Jeremiah Cheung draws on Psalm 126 and encourages us to keep being God’s Dreamers.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a dream (big or small) that once felt impossible to you but eventually came true. What made it happen?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What is the significance of “sowing in tears” and “reaping with joy” in what was happening to the Israelites?

What does the passage teach about God’s role in both fulfilling past dreams and sustaining present ones?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)

When you look at your life today, do you feel more like you are celebrating fulfilled dreams or struggling in a “sowing in tears” season? How is your heart responding to that?

What tends to shape your dreams more—your circumstances or your view of God? Were there dreams you had let go of because they felt too difficult or impossible? What does that reveal about your trust in God?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)

How aligned are your personal dreams with God’s dream of making disciples? What might God be inviting you to realign?

How can you take a step toward deeper involvement in discipleship as a disciple and disciple-maker?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for His faithfulness across generations—that He is the God who fulfills what seems impossible and turns sorrow into joy. Thank Him for the countless ways He has led and sustained the church, providing direction, provision, and purpose through every season. Rejoice that history is truly His story, and that He invites you to be part of His greater mission of making disciples and transforming lives for His glory.

Repent for the times you have allowed your circumstances, fears, or limitations to shape your dreams more than God’s power and promises. Ask for forgiveness for pursuing your own ambitions while neglecting God’s call to invest in people and make disciples. Pray that you may surrender your dreams to Him, trust Him even in seasons of “sowing in tears,” and realign your heart to dream with God for His kingdom purposes.
