2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share a specific moment this week when you felt challenged to make every effort about your faith. How did you respond? What did you learn from the experience?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. How does Peter view Paul’s writings? Why is it important? (vv.15-16)
• How does growing in grace and knowledge contribute to a believer’s holistic growth (v.18)?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• Examine yourself: How much do you respect the authority of God’s word in your daily life? Identify what habits or practices distort your reverence for the Bible.
• Be honest: Since the previous messages on false teachings, have you made progress in protecting yourself against them? What encourages and inhibits you?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• In what ways is God asking you to pursue holiness, excellence in character, and peace with the Lord while living out your faith in Christ?
• What specific steps can you take to experience and receive God’s grace and knowledge more fully?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise God for the amazing grace He has poured out on us. Thank Him for the glorious reality that Christ died for us, was buried, and rose again so that all who believe in Him might not perish but have everlasting life. Pray that you respond to this by growing in grace, day after day, for His honor and glory. Also ask for the diligence to guard your heart and keep your eyes looking to Jesus.
• Thank God that He is a good and long-suffering God, and that it is not His will that any should perish but that all sinners should come to repentance. In the limited time we have left, pray that many sinners would repent of their sins and turn to Christ for forgiveness.
• God has given us all we need to live godly lives and to understand the times in which we live. Pray that God gives you greater insight into those Bible passages that may be confusing and prone to distortion by others. Pray that you would not be swept along by false teachings but become increasingly grounded on the Word of Truth, walking with Jesus daily until He returns.

• Think of a recent time you needed to be patient. Looking back, how did waiting help you grow as a Christian during that time?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. What do verses 8-9 show us about God’s character?
• Look through the Bible for examples that show how people may need to wait a long time (by our standards) for God to fulfill His plans. What principles can you glean from these examples and the passage?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• Examine yourself: How does knowing that the earth is temporary affect how you live in it today?
• Be honest: Does the knowledge of Christ’s second coming comfort you? Does it impact your prayer life? Reflect on what the motivations and hurdles in your head and heart are.

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• In what specific ways can you cultivate a mindset of anticipation while actively engaging the world?
• How can you personally contribute to fulfilling this mission of speeding God’s return in your community and beyond?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise God for He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is longsuffering toward us even if we fall into sin time and time again. Repent for those moments you have failed to obey and honor Him. Ask for the same patience as we expectantly wait for His return, knowing that His timing is always perfect.
• Thank Him for the many reminders in Scripture to hold fast to the truth of His Word. Ask God to help you to continuously meditate on the fact that He is our great and mighty Creator Who spoke the world into being and fashioned us in His own image. Despite humankind’s sinfulness, He purposed to redeem us by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. As the day of His return draws ever closer and so many are choosing to remain ignorant of the things of God, pray that in His grace, He would convict many of their need of Christ and restore hope to those who are lost.
• Ask God to help you see the unsaved world through His eyes of love, that He desires for all to be saved. Request for the hunger and follow through to spread His saving gospel of grace to a lost world, and that they may come to faith in Him while there is still time.

• What kind of promises do false teachers make? What would the consequences of believing in their promises be?

• Pray for the universal church to be protected and that false teachers would be exposed for their trickery and their deceptive ministries be brought to justice. Thank God that the true gospel is revealed to us in the Scriptures and pray that your eyes will be opened to appreciate and understand the wonderful truths in His Word and heed its warnings. Take this time to ask God to help you have the discipline to study the Scriptures so that you may be ready to give a clear and accurate answer for the hope you have.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)
• Share a belief or idea that you once held strongly, only to realize later that it was a ‘false truth’ that led to complications in your life. How did you eventually discover the correct perspective, and how did it impact your faith/growth?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)
• Read the passage. How do the false teachers disguise their message so that they are not discovered? In what ways can understanding their beliefs about the Bible, God, Christ, and salvation help in discerning whether they are false teachers?
• Reflect on the distinction between paganism and heresy. Why is it crucial for believers to recognize paganistic and heretical beliefs that may appear consistent with the Christian faith?
• What do the biblical examples mentioned teach us about God? What do we learn about His justice?

4. Engage the heart (15-20 mins)
• How intentional are you about discerning the beliefs of those who teach or influence you spiritually? How do you actively seek to understand the doctrinal positions of those you follow?
• How does your own conduct align with the moral and ethical standards set by God? In what areas might you need improvement?

5. Engage the hands (15-20 mins)
• How can you actively engage in discernment regarding the teachings you encounter? What practical steps can you take to ensure a solid foundation in biblical truth?
• Discuss with your Life Group/community specific strategies you can do to maintain a strong grip of the truth in the face of trials and deception. How can your group and the bigger church community contribute to this process?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)
• Praise and thank God for giving us His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the Cross, so that by faith in Him we might be saved from the wrath of God, which is demanded for humanity’s sinfulness. Express your gratitude that salvation does not depend on what we have done, but on what Christ has done on our account.
• Take this time to appreciate God for revealing Himself to us through His precious Word. Thank Him for the truths we can learn from each passage, the warnings we can heed to protect ourselves, and the reassurances we can hold on to. Repent for the times you’ve taken Him and His Word for granted because of fear or disobedience, knowing that God remains faithful and His promises never fail amidst our lack.
• Ask God to keep you alert to any false teachings and give you discernment to identify and expose those who seek to exploit the flock of God. Fervently pray for those who may have been indoctrinated with satanic lies and that they may come to a knowledge of the truth.
