詩篇作者視上帝為他最珍視的產業，其價值遠勝於物質財富。本週日，張國強牧師鼓勵我們反思，究竟哪些真正有價值的事物，是我們希望作為「真正的家庭珍寶」傳承給家人的。

The Psalmist treasured God above all else, valuing Him far beyond material wealth. This Sunday, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung invites us to reflect on what truly matters. What “true family treasures” do we wish to pass on to our families?

Read Today’s Scripture Passage

詩篇 Psalm 16

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Growing up, what was something your family considered a treasure or something worth protecting? Why was it important to your family?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm. What does it mean that God is your only Lord, your greatest portion, and the guide of your life?

What are the results of trusting in God both in this life and in eternity?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

Can you honestly say that God is your greatest treasure and portion? Why or why not? What idols (e.g., success, comfort, relationships, money, approval, control) have been competing with God for first place in your heart?

How content are you with the portion God has given you? Do you find yourself comparing your life with others? Where is this rooted?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

How intentional are you in seeking God’s guidance through His Word before making decisions? How can you make it a greater source of guidance in your daily decisions this week?

How can you help pass on this treasure of faith to your family, friends, or the next generation?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for being our faithful Refuge, only Lord, greatest Treasure, and eternal Portion. Thank Him for never abandoning us, for faithfully guiding us through His Word, and for giving us exactly what is best according to His perfect wisdom. Rejoice that our security is not found in our circumstances but in His unchanging presence. Thank Him that through Jesus Christ, we have the sure hope of eternal joy and everlasting fellowship with Him.

Repent for the times you have trusted in yourself, other people, or the things of this world more than you have trusted in God. Ask for forgiveness for allowing idols to compete with Him for first place in your heart. Confess the times you have complained, compared yourself with others, or doubted that His portion for you is good. Pray that the Holy Spirit would deepen your trust in God, teach you to treasure His presence above all else, and help you continually seek His guidance so that your life and your family will leave behind the lasting treasure of wholehearted faith in Him.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

If you had to describe one aspect of God’s character through one of His names (Provider, Shepherd, Peace, Healer, etc.), which would you choose based on this season of life and why?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm. Why is it significant that David used both Jehovah and Lord (Adonai)? What do these names reveal about God’s relationship with people?

How does this psalm connect God’s original commission to humanity with Jesus’ mission and the church’s calling today?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

When you consider the greatness of God shown in creation and His care for humanity, what does that reveal about how you currently view yourself and your worth?

In what areas of your life do you acknowledge God as Jehovah (a relational God) but struggle to submit to Him as Lord and Master?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

This week, what is one intentional way you can pause and recognize God’s majesty in creation and turn that into worship?

What is one practical way you can live as God’s representative in your family, workplace, school, or ministry this week? Who is one person God may be calling you to intentionally disciple, encourage spiritually, or pray for as part of participating in His mission?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because His name is majestic in all the earth and His glory is revealed in creation, in His victories, in His faithful care, and in His redemptive work through Christ. Thank Him that though humanity is small and undeserving, He chose to create us in His image, crown us with dignity, and invite us into relationship with Him. Rejoice that through Christ, what was broken by sin is being restored, and that He allows us to participate in His glorious mission of making disciples among all nations.

Repent for the times you have lived as though your identity, value, and purpose depend on your own strength, accomplishments, or failures instead of what God has declared over you. Ask for forgiveness for recognizing God as Savior while resisting Him as Lord and Master over every area of your life. Pray that your heart would submit more fully to Christ, trust His restoring work, and faithfully carry out the commission He has entrusted to His people for His glory.

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share about a time when someone felt distant from you (friend, family, mentor, etc.). How did that affect the way you related to them?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. Instead of abandoning his faith, how does the psalmist respond when God seems distant?

What does the psalm teach about expressing negative emotions before God?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

When you experience sadness, disappointment, confusion, or loneliness, do you tend to bring those emotions to God or suppress and carry them alone?

Where in your life have you been allowing your feelings or circumstances to define truth more than God’s Word?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What is one practical way you can intentionally draw near to God this week, especially if you don’t feel like it? How can you create rhythms of worship, prayer, and remembrance that help sustain your faith in difficult seasons?

What truth from Scripture can you intentionally preach to yourself this week whenever discouragement or uncertainty comes?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because He welcomes us not only in moments of joy but also in seasons of grief, confusion, loneliness, and longing. Thank Him that His steadfast love does not change even when His presence feels distant. Rejoice that through Christ, we have access to draw near to God and find refuge in Him. Thank Him for being our Rock, Refuge, and faithful guide even when the future feels uncertain.

Repent for the times you have allowed emotions, disappointments, or difficult experiences to pull your heart away from God rather than bringing them honestly before Him. Ask for forgiveness for suppressing your pain, relying on your own understanding, or seeking comfort apart from His presence. Pray that God would teach you to lament faithfully, to preach His truth to your heart, and to continue drawing near to Him even in seasons when He seems distant.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share about a season in your life that felt like a “wilderness” (dry, difficult, uncertain, lonely, or stretching). What did that season reveal about your relationship with God?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What does David’s longing for God reveal about the difference between seeking God Himself and seeking only His blessings? How do we see this difference today?

How does Psalm 63 point us toward Jesus and the invitation to find ultimate satisfaction in Him?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

Where has comfort or routine quietly weakened your dependence on God?

What thoughts usually dominate your quiet moments? How are those thoughts shaping your mind, heart, and trust in God? Is there any fear, bitterness, anxiety, disappointment, or desire for control that God may be inviting you to surrender to Him?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What is one intentional practice you can begin this week to cultivate a deeper longing for God (e.g., prayer, Scripture meditation, worship, solitude, journaling)? What would it look like for you to pursue satisfaction in God instead of temporary comfort or worldly substitutes this week?

When fear or anxious thoughts arise this week, what practical way can you redirect your attention toward worship and trust?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because He alone satisfies the deepest thirst of the human soul. Thank Him that His steadfast love is better than life and remains faithful through every season—whether in abundance or in the wilderness. Rejoice that He does not abandon His people in difficult places but uses those seasons to draw us nearer, deepen our trust, and reveal His presence more fully. Thank Jesus that He entered suffering and experienced ultimate thirst so that we may receive eternal satisfaction and life in Him.

Repent for the times you have pursued comfort, control, achievement, relationships, or temporary satisfaction more than seeking God Himself. Ask for forgiveness for becoming spiritually passive, relying on blessings while neglecting the Blesser, and turning toward worry, fear, bitterness, or self-dependence during wilderness seasons. Pray that God would restore in you a desperate hunger for His presence, teach you to worship even in dry seasons, and form in you a heart that continually longs for Him, delights in Him, and leans on Him completely.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a habit or routine that has helped you stay spiritually grounded during difficult seasons. How did you develop it?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. How is the righteous person compared to a tree? What makes his life abundant and fruitful?

What does the chaff teach about the life of the wicked? How do we see chaff-like living today?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

How healthy is the unseen part of your spiritual life (your personal relationship with God when no one else sees)? Which aspects are flourishing, and which ones withering?

What areas in your life are you choosing your own path instead of surrendering to God’s direction? Where is this coming from?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

Do you delight in God’s Word, or do you often treat it as a responsibility or routine? Why do you think that is? What practical habit can you start this week to meditate on God’s Word more intentionally day and night?

In what ways are you tempted to walk, stand, and sit with ungodly influences instead of following God’s ways? What unhealthy influence, environment, or relationship do you need to say “no” to so you can walk more faithfully with God?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for leading us into the path of true blessing and life through His Word. Thank Him because He does not leave us lost or directionless, but lovingly watches over the way of the righteous. Rejoice that through His Word, He nourishes our souls like a tree planted by streams of water, giving us strength, stability, and fruitfulness in every season of life. Thank Him for His faithfulness in sustaining us even through trials and challenges, and for allowing us to know Him personally and walk closely with Him.

Repent for the times you have followed worldly influences, chosen your own path, or allowed sinful attitudes and habits to shape your life. Ask forgiveness for neglecting God’s Word or treating it only as knowledge instead of delighting in it and obeying it wholeheartedly. Confess the ways your roots have become shallow and your heart distracted from intimacy with God. Pray that the Lord would help you reject the path that leads to destruction and continually plant your life deeply in Him, so that you may bear lasting fruit for His glory.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share your greatest hope or concern for the next generation (kids, younger people in the family/church/community).

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. Why does human work, building, or labor become in vain without the Lord?

Why is passing down the faith to the next generation closely connected to the mission and heart of God?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what areas of your life do you tend to work and strive without fully depending on God’s presence? Where is this rooted?

What fears or frustrations do you have about the gap between the present generation and the next? How might God be inviting you to respond differently?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What habits or investments in your life need to change so that your labor will have eternal and lasting value?

How do you personally view the next generation? Do you see them as distractions, responsibilities, blessings, or instruments from God? How can you intentionally pass on your faith to someone younger than you—whether through prayer, mentoring, conversations, or example?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because His work in our lives is never in vain when He is at the center. Thank Him for being our true source of security, peace, and purpose, even when the world teaches us to rely on our own strength and achievements. Thank Him for the gift of families, children, and the next generation whom He has entrusted to us as a heritage, blessing, and instrument for His glory. Rejoice that God continues to work even while we rest, and that His plans will continue from generation to generation as His faithfulness endures forever.

Repent for the times you have labored, worried, and built your life apart from God’s presence and direction. Ask for forgiveness for placing your security in temporary things instead of trusting the Lord completely. Repent for the moments you have neglected, underestimated, or failed to intentionally invest in the next generation spiritually. Pray that God would soften your heart to see children, youth, and younger believers through His eyes, and ask Him to help you faithfully pass on the faith through your words, example, love, and obedience.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share about a time when someone introduced you to Christ, invited you to church, or helped you grow spiritually. How did that impact your life?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passages. What is the heart of God for the world?

What are the four challenges given to believers in responding to God’s heart for the world? How are these practically seen today?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

When you think about people who still do not know Christ, what usually happens in your heart (burdened, indifferent, fearful, or compassionate)? Why? How would you honestly evaluate your love for God and love for people today?

What priorities or comforts in your life keep you from being more involved in God’s mission? Where is this rooted?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

How well are you displaying the character and priorities of Christ in your daily life (family, workplace/school, or community)? How can you intentionally display these in your daily interactions this week?

What specific step can you take to grow in obedience to God’s call to “make disciples of all nations”?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for His great love and compassion for the whole world. Thank Him that His heart desires for all people to be saved and restored to Him through Jesus Christ. Rejoice that even while humanity was separated from Him because of sin, God made a way for reconciliation through Christ, our Mediator and Savior. Thank Him for the gift of eternal life—not only the promise of being with Him forever in heaven, but also the privilege of walking with Him daily here on earth. Praise Him that His mission continues today through ordinary believers empowered by His Spirit to make Christ known to all people.

Repent for the times you have neglected God’s heart for the lost and become too focused on your own comfort, priorities, or fears. Ask for forgiveness for the moments you remained silent about the Gospel, failed to love people deeply, or lacked compassion for those who are far from God. Confess the times you have not reflected the character and priorities of Christ in your daily life. Pray that God would transform your heart to align with His heart for the nations, giving you greater love, boldness, obedience, and willingness to participate in His mission wherever He places you.

Thank Him that, like Peter and the disciples, He does not forsake us in our failures but lovingly calls us back to Himself for a fresh start. Rejoice that the risen Christ is alive, present, and actively working in our lives even before we see the solution to our problems.

Repent for the times you have responded with fear, silence, or unbelief instead of trusting and obeying the risen Lord.
Share a recent time you experienced humiliation, rejection, or misunderstanding. How did you respond?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What were the five significant events that happened during Jesus’ death? What does each reveal about His identity and mission?

What do Joseph of Arimathea’s actions teach you about courage and discipleship?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what ways do you sometimes act like the crowd, the soldiers, or the disciples—rejecting, avoiding, or staying silent about Jesus?

How do you respond when following Jesus becomes uncomfortable, costly, or embarrassing? What fears or guilt might be causing you to distance yourself from Jesus, like Peter and the other disciples did?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for sending His Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly endured humiliation, suffering, and death on the cross for us. Thank Him that even in the midst of man’s wickedness, His goodness and perfect plan prevailed. Rejoice that through Jesus’ broken body and sacrifice, the curtain was torn and we now have direct access to His presence. Give thanks that Christ remained faithful to accomplish our salvation and offer us new life.

Repent for the times you have denied, avoided, or stayed silent about Jesus out of fear, shame, or comfort. Ask for forgiveness for taking lightly the suffering and separation Christ endured because of your sin. Confess the ways you have clung to your old life instead of fully embracing the new life He offers. Pray for the courage to stand for Christ, to follow Him wholeheartedly, and to live boldly as His disciple.

Jesus' trial was deeply unjust: He was there based on false testimony, and the judge cared more about his own reputation than the truth, to the point he was willing to trade Jesus for a convicted murderer. This Sunday, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung explores how this miscarriage of justice brought redemption for all of humanity.

Read Today’s Scripture Passage

馬可福音 Mark 15:1-20

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share a time you went along with a group’s decision even if you knew it wasn’t right. What influenced your choice?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the passage. What role did the religious leaders and the crowd play in choosing Barabbas over Jesus? What does this reveal about human nature?

What forms of suffering did Jesus endure from the soldiers? What do these reveal about the weight of sin?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

In what situations are you tempted to prioritize pleasing people over standing for what is right and true? Where is this rooted?

How do you respond when you realize that your actions, words, or decisions may have been unjust or hurtful to others?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What areas of your life still reflect your old self instead of the new life you have in Christ? What is one practical step you can take to put to death your old self and live out your new identity in Christ?

Who is someone you can extend grace or forgiveness to, even if they don’t deserve it? How will you show that this week?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father for accomplishing the greatest salvation through what seemed like the most unjust trial. Thank Him that even though we were like Barabbas—guilty and deserving of judgment—Jesus took our place and bore our punishment on the cross. Rejoice that through Christ, our sins are forgiven, our old self is crucified, and we are given new life. Thank Him for His grace that continues to pursue us and for His constant intercession on our behalf.

Repent for the times you have chosen to please people instead of standing firm in truth, and for the moments you have acted unjustly in your thoughts, words, or actions. Ask for forgiveness for taking the sacrifice of Jesus lightly and for living as if your old self still has control. Pray that you would truly die to sin and live in the new life Christ has given you, with a heart that is quick to repent, willing to obey, and committed to walk in truth and righteousness.
