Is saying “Sorry” enough to prove that one is truly repentant of their sins? This Sunday, Ptr. Renz Raquion reminds us that genuine repentance requires we confess our sin, confront the chaos within, and come home to a God whose grace forgives, restores, and gives back the joy we lost.

1. Magdasal bilang panimula.

2. Engage with one another (15-30 mins)

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

Read Today’s Scripture Passage

Psalm 73

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

What is something you’ve seen or experienced that made you think, “That’s not fair”? What made it seem unfair? What thoughts or feelings arose in your heart toward God?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm. What caused Asaph to question whether following God was worth it? How do we see this today?

What three things did Asaph begin to see differently when he turned his eyes toward God? What do these reveal about how God wants you to see your circumstances?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

What situation in your life currently causes you to question whether following God is worth it? How has this affected your view of God?

When you are struggling, do you tend to become more self-focused or more considerate of how your struggles may affect others? What does Asaph’s example challenge you to shift your response?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What is one worldly source of satisfaction you need to hold more loosely or let go of? What would it look like to intentionally find greater satisfaction in God instead?

How can you remind yourself this week of God’s presence, guidance, and value when your circumstances make you doubt Him?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise God that even when the world feels unjust and circumstances are confusing, He remains good, faithful, present, and sovereign. Thank Him that He does not leave us to figure out life on our own, but gives us His presence, guidance, and wisdom. Thank Him that when everything else fails to satisfy, God Himself is enough, and that our relationship with Him is our greatest treasure.

Repent for the times you have allowed envy, comparison, disappointment, or the apparent prosperity of others to make you question God’s goodness and faithfulness. Repent for seeking satisfaction in wealth, relationships, achievements, comfort, or other things instead of finding your deepest satisfaction in God. Ask God to forgive you for being self-focused in seasons of struggle and to help you turn your eyes back to Him, trust His wise arrangements, and see your circumstances through His eyes.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

What is something you’ve seen or experienced that made you think, “That’s not fair”? What made it seem unfair? What thoughts or feelings arose in your heart toward God?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm. What was Asaph’s obvious problem, and what did he eventually discover was the hidden problem underneath it? Why is this distinction important?

What does Psalm 73 teach us about the relationship between worship, repentance, and finding satisfaction in God?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

When you are disappointed or struggling with God, what hidden desires or motives might be underneath your questions and frustrations? Have you ever realized that what seemed like a desire for justice was actually rooted in comparison, envy, or wanting what someone else had? What did that reveal about your heart?

When you come to God in worship, are you more concerned with getting answers from Him or encountering Him? What does this reveal about your relationship with God?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

When envy or comparison arises, how can you intentionally redirect your heart toward God as your greater and lasting treasure?

What can you intentionally do this week to move from simply seeking answers from God to seeking God Himself through worship, prayer, His Word, and fellowship with His people?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise God that He does not merely give us explanations for our struggles but gives us Himself. Thank Him that His presence is a greater answer than simply understanding why difficult things happen. Thank God for the privilege of coming into His presence through worship and, ultimately, through the blood-soaked cross of Christ, where our sins are atoned for and we are welcomed into His presence. Praise Him that while everything earthly is temporary and can eventually be taken away, God remains our portion, our guide, and our eternal treasure.

Repent for the times you have allowed envy, comparison, bitterness, or self-centered desires to shape how you view God and your circumstances. Ask God to expose the hidden motives beneath your complaints and doubts, especially when you are more concerned about what others have than about knowing and worshiping Him. Repent for seeking temporary prosperity, comfort, recognition, or possessions as the source of your satisfaction. Ask God to relocate your heart’s treasure to Him so that you can be freed from envy and find lasting joy in His presence.

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

Thank God for His grace, that our security does not depend on how tightly we hold on to Him, but on how faithfully He holds on to us.

Why do we let conflict and false accusations weigh us down? What do we really gain from defending our honor and reputation so fiercely? This Sunday, Rev. Dr. Michael Tsang reminds us that a life lived only for today is ultimately meaningless. Let us set our hearts on eternity and invest in what lasts forever.

Read Today’s Scripture Passage

Psalm 39: 1-13

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

If you knew you only had one year left to live, what would you start, stop, and continue pursuing?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm. What truths about God and human life helped David move from anger and frustration to humility and hope?

Why does David end the psalm by describing himself as a stranger and sojourner? How should that shape a believer’s priorities?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

Since becoming a Christian, how have you viewed life’s purpose? What are you striving to gain in your daily work and routines? What temporary pursuits (success, wealth, achievements, reputation, comfort, approval, etc.) are most likely to distract you from living for God?

What area of your life have you not fully surrendered to God’s lordship? Why has it been difficult to let Him rule over it?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

How can you intentionally “number your days” this week by making one decision that reflects God’s priorities rather than the world’s?

How can you intentionally invest in building God’s kingdom by discipling, encouraging, or sharing your faith with someone this week?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise God because He is the eternal and sovereign Lord whose love never changes, even though our lives are brief and fragile. Thank Him for giving our life true meaning, patiently disciplining us as a loving Father, and offering forgiveness and hope through His grace so we can live with an eternal purpose.

Confess the times you have wasted your life pursuing temporary things, relied on your own strength, argued or reacted sinfully toward others, or resisted God’s discipline. Ask God to forgive you, help you surrender every area of your life to His lordship, give you wisdom to number your days, and enable you to live faithfully for His kingdom until the end.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

If you could spend one more day with someone you deeply love, how would you choose to spend that day?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm. Why did David remain silent at first, and what finally led him to speak to God instead of keeping everything inside?

What does it mean to live as a sojourner? How does Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection give believers confidence on their journey home?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

What have you been keeping silent before God? What has kept you from honestly bringing your fears, disappointments, or struggles to Him?

If you truly believed that your life is brief, what priorities, worries, or ambitions would you begin to hold more loosely?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What is one temporary pursuit that has been consuming too much of your time or attention? How can you intentionally redirect that time toward something with eternal value?

What is one practical way you can live more like a sojourner this week by investing in God’s kingdom, loving others, or growing in your walk with Christ?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise God because He is our unchanging hope in the midst of life’s brevity and uncertainty. Thank Him for patiently welcoming your honest prayers, using even His loving discipline to draw you closer to Himself, and sending Jesus, the ultimate Sojourner, who conquered sin and death so that you have an eternal home with Him.

Confess the times you have lived as though this world were your permanent home, placed your hope in temporary things, or kept your burdens from God instead of bringing them to Him. Ask the Lord to forgive you, teach you to number your days wisely, loosen your grip on earthly pursuits, and help you live each day with your hope firmly anchored in Christ and His eternal kingdom.

1. Magdasal bilang panimula.

2. Engage with one another (15-30 mins)

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Share how you usually address God in your prayers. Do you refer to Him as your Heavenly Father? Do you acknowledge Jesus and the Holy Spirit as well in your prayers? Where do you think this is rooted?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm. Why was the psalmist able to bring his honest complaints to God without turning away from Him?

How do the events surrounding Jesus’ death and resurrection help us understand the hope found at the end of Psalm 88?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

Are you completely honest with God in prayer, or do you find yourself hiding your true emotions from Him? What keeps you from being fully open?

Have you been tempted to stop praying because God seems silent or slow to answer? What does that reveal about your perception and expectations of Him?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What is one burden or unanswered prayer that you will intentionally continue bringing before God instead of giving up on? What can you do this week to remind yourself to wait expectantly for God rather than assuming He is absent or late?

Who do you know may be walking through a dark season? How can you encourage them with God’s presence and the hope found in Christ?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise the Heavenly Father because He remains the God who saves, hears, and stays with His people even when life feels dark, and His answers seem delayed. Thank Him that Jesus entered the deepest darkness on our behalf so that we can have the hope of new life and the assurance that we are never alone in our suffering.

Ask God to forgive you for the times you have doubted His goodness, stopped praying, or believed He had abandoned you when your circumstances did not change. Pray for a heart that continues to seek Him with honesty, perseverance, and confident hope, trusting His perfect timing and His unfailing presence even in the darkest seasons.

1. Start with a prayer

2. Engage one another (15-30 mins)

Looking back on a dark and difficult season, how have you seen God use it to shape your faith or character in ways you didn’t realize at the time?

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm. What does the psalmist continue doing despite experiencing both outer and inner darkness?

What was Jesus’ experience of darkness? How does this provide hope and assurance for believers who are praying through their own darkness?

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

When you experience darkness or prolonged suffering, are you more likely to pour out your heart to God, to others, or to keep your struggles to yourself? Why do you think that is?

Honestly Examine Yourself: Do you love and trust God for who He is, even when He does not immediately change your circumstances? Why or why not? Where is this rooted?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)

What burden or area of darkness will you intentionally continue bringing to God in prayer this week instead of giving up? How can you practice praying yourself empty by honestly sharing both your thoughts and feelings with God each day?

How can your perseverance in prayer become an encouragement to someone else who is currently walking through a season of darkness?

6. Engage with God in prayer (20-30 mins)

Praise God because He welcomes us, His children, to come to Him honestly, even in seasons of darkness and unanswered prayers. Thank Him for His amazing grace that meets us in our deepest pain and for Jesus, who entered the darkness so that we could receive grace, grow in Christlike character, and have the hope of eternal life.

Ask God to forgive you for the times you have doubted His goodness, stopped praying, or depended more on your own understanding than on His faithfulness. Pray for a steadfast faith that continues to seek Him day and night, trusting that He is using even the darkest seasons to accomplish His gracious and eternal purposes in your life.

Even Christians know despair, but that doesn’t mean God is absent in these moments. This Sunday, Rev. Michael Cariño shares how genuine faith keeps us praying through the darkness, amid tears, pain, and confusion.

Basahin sa Bibliya

Psalm 88

Life Group Discussion Guide

1. Magdasal bilang panimula.

2. Engage with one another (15-30 mins)

3. Engage the mind (15-20 mins)

Read the psalm.

4. Examine the heart (15-20 mins)

Bakit kaya?

5. Empower the hands (15-20 mins)
